Holst’s suite The Planets is one of classical music’s most extraordinary acts of imagination. Student musicians from Helsinki and London unite to perform the work alongside Sibelius’s The Wood Nymph and a new piece from Finnish-American composer Lara Poe.

We open our 24/25 season with an interstellar journey in The Planets with Chief Conductor John Storgårds in command, meanwhile Paul Lewis is one of the finest interpreters of Beethoven’s piano works and returns for his Piano Concerto No. 3.

Welsh Euphonium sensation David Childs steps into the solo spot for the world premiere of Sir James MacMillan’s new concerto Where the Lugar meets the Glaisnock, and the folk music of England provides the scene for Vaughan Williams’ In the Fen Country.
