The 2017 91热爆 Proms opens with a dance and a shout. Celebrate John Adams鈥檚 70th birthday with his masterpiece Harmonium. Award-winning pianist Igor Levit is the soloist in Beethoven鈥檚 ground-breaking Third Piano Concerto.

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Bernard Haitink are joined by soloist Isabelle Faust for Mozart鈥檚 graceful Violin Concerto No. 3. It is framed by two symphonies from Mozart and Schumann, which each represent a defiant, optimistic challenge.

Blending Glass鈥檚 American Minimalism with traditional Hindustani classical music, sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar joins the Britten Sinfonia for the first complete live performance of Philip Glass and Ravi Shankar鈥檚 1964 concept album Passages.

Gurrelieder is Schoenberg鈥檚 Tristan and Isolde, an opulent, late-Romantic giant. The LSO and Sir Simon Rattle are joined by an outstanding line-up of soloists, including soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek and tenor Simon O鈥橬eill as lovers Tove and Waldemar.

Bach specialist John Butt and his award-winning Dunedin Consort make their Proms debut with a performance of Bach鈥檚 St John Passion, a work of almost operatic immediacy. The soloists include Tim Mead, Sophie Bevan and Nicholas Mulroy.

After a triumphant Proms debut with the CBSO last year, Mirga Gra啪inyt臈-Tyla returns with a programme that sets Beethoven鈥檚 Fifth Symphony against a world premiere by Gerald Barry. Leila Josefowicz is the soloist in Stravinsky鈥檚 Violin Concerto.

Following their sell-out 2016 Quincy Jones Prom, Jules Buckley and his Metropole Orkest return to celebrate the legendary composer, bandleader and bass player Charles Mingus, featuring artists Shabaka Hutchings, Christian Scott and Kandace Springs.

We mark the 70th anniversary of partition and independence on the Indian subcontinent by celebrating three contrasting traditions: Hindustani music of North India, South India鈥檚 melody-driven Carnatic music and the mesmeric Sufi music of Pakistan.

Singer and broadcaster Clare Teal and bandleaders Guy Barker and Winston Rollins take the audience on a journey through the irrepressible big band music of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and others.

The UK鈥檚 first majority BME orchestra, Chineke!, makes its Proms debut. 2016 91热爆 Young Musician winner, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, is the soloist, and the concert also includes works by composers George Walker and Hannah Kendall.

Founded in 1957, Stax Records was synonymous with Southern Soul music. Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra pay tribute to this pioneering label in a concert featuring hits from Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes and Johnnie Taylor.

American pianist Jeremy Denk joins Karina Canellakis and the 91热爆 SO for Bart贸k鈥檚 ferociously brilliant Second Piano Concerto 鈥� a contrast to the pastoral beauty of Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 Symphony No. 8. The concert opens with Missy Mazzoli鈥檚 mesmeric Sinfonia.

The two volumes of Bach鈥檚 The Well-Tempered Clavier together represent a wealth of musical invention, ingenuity and delight. Eminent Bach-specialist Sir Andr谩s Schiff here performs Book I 鈥� concluding the cycle next year with Book 2.

Join in the Last night of the Proms celebrations in Hyde Park, hosted by Michael Ball, with Proms in the Park favourites the 91热爆 Concert Orchestra under the baton of Richard Balcombe, and special guest Sir Bryn Terfel, headlined by Sir Ray Davies.

Sakari Oramo and the 91热爆 Symphony Orchestra weave together many of this season鈥檚 strands with music by John Adams, Sibelius and Malcolm Sargent. Nina Stemme leads the end-of-season festivities, joined by the 91热爆 Singers and 91热爆 Symphony Chorus.
