Jacob Polley tells 91Èȱ¬ Radio Cumbria how and why he wrote Emergency; a play which focuses on climate change, flooding and connecting with the past. Jacob reads extracts of poetry from the storm sequence bringing the terrifying power of the weather to life.
Excerpts from the recorded drama, which airs later on Radio 4 and 91Èȱ¬ Sounds, will see Jacob’s words accompanied by an original score by world renowned sound artists Strijbos & Van Rijswijk.
Emergency is a drama that explores our relationship with the non-human world, explores survival – the stubborn survival of people and language – and creation itself through games of words played by people living at the end of the world.
