One of the first performers announced for our event in Glasgow, Paolo Nutini has been the pride of Scotland ever since the success of his debut album These Streets back in 2006. That LP saw the Paisley singer stick to the charts like glue and he followed up the record with a No.1 album in the form of 2009's Sunny Side Up, for which he won two Ivor Novello Awards.
Since then the Scottish pop-rock specialist has kept us waiting, taking time out before announcing his comeback last December to the delight of his fans. In Scream (Funk My Life Up), he's certainly rewarded our patience with a smooth groove and keen display of his love of funk, soul and a brass section. From Nick Grimshaw to Zane Lowe, the track has been on heavy rotation on Radio 1 with one listen never being enough.
By the time Big Weekend comes round, Paolo's third album Caustic Love will have been released giving you plenty of time to swot up on the new sounds of this soulful and enigmatic storyteller.
