About this event
A rare opportunity to hear Prokofiev’s generously melodic fairy-tale ballet score in its full glory. The composer began work on Cinderella in the spring of 1940 but, with the onset of war, his compositional priorities changed and he did not tackle the orchestration for another four years. It proved to be one of the music’s most original features, evoking an alluringly strange, ‘silvery’ sound-world.
