Concert Information
Forget what you thought you knew about orchestral concerts; this new and innovative series requests that you DO turn on your mobile phones and tablets.
The 91Èȱ¬ Philharmonic, in partnership with the University of Salford, will be exploring new and rarely performed pieces – bringing audience immersion and new technology to the forefront.
The sessions will be featured in an enhanced live stream on the orchestra’s website, which enables the audience to explore the orchestra, receive synced information about the music and even view a live orchestral score.
Bring your devices and help us explore a new way of experiencing an orchestra.
This evening:
The 91Èȱ¬ Philharmonic performs Edward Elgar’s elegiac Sospiri (‘Sighs’), composed in the months preceding the outbreak of WWI; The Red Brick Sessions: Elgar, Thomas Adès’ 2005 violin concerto of geometric intensity, Concentric Paths, with Daniel Pioro on solo violin; and Arnold Schoenberg’s darkly lyrical Chamber Symphony No. 2, a work only completed 25 years after it was begun.
91Èȱ¬ Presenter Elizabeth Alker will host an interval discussion about the music before the orchestra performs it again – inviting you to listen with fresh ears.
