About this event
Music, nature, magic and reality: Sibelius’s mighty Seventh Symphony can sound as if it was wrought from rock, ice and the air itself. It’s one artist’s response to an age of global crisis – just as Jimmy Lopez’s Altered Landscape evokes images of progress, reflection and a world transformed by humanity’s shared experiences in the 21st century. For Lopez, music can “plant a seed of hope and beauty in all of us”, and his colourful, urgently communicative compositions have caused a sensation in the USA.
The 91ȱ Concert Orchestra’s Chief Conductor Anna-Maria Helsing brings Lopez's message to the UK tonight – and joins Britain’s best-loved saxophonist Jess Gillam on a joyous adventure to another isle of wonder, in Michael Nyman’s exuberant, Shakespeare-inspired modern classic.
