Genesis of the Daleks, by Terry Nation
The Daleks glided into many of Your Greatest Moments...
Tim was struck by Resurrection of the Daleks, Ben enjoyed Death to the Daleks and Simon and Joanne both plumped for the ending of Remembrance of the Daleks, part 1. It's Joanne's earliest memory of Doctor Who and features a lone Dalek hovering up a staircase in pursuit of the Doctor. 'Best cliff-hanger ever!' she tells us!
One of the most frequently cited 'greatest moments' from the Fourth Doctor's era was from Genesis of the Daleks. Mark may have enjoyed the moment where the Doctor and Davros discuss a (hypothetical) deadly virus ('Doctor Who at its best!') but from that story, most people opted for the Doctor's dilemma...
Paul was one of many who said, 'My greatest moment has to be when the Fourth Doctor holds the fuse wire that could destroy the Dalek embryos in Genesis of the Daleks, and he ponders a universe without the Daleks and questions his right to make that decision... Tom Baker at his best'.
Mark found the moment memorable and Callum agreed it was 'the most amazing moment in Doctor Who history' and Ben labelled the scene 'memorable and dramatic'. Jorge enjoyed the 'moral dilemma' faced by the Doctor, adding it ranks as 'one of the best moments from the best Doctor!'
Oliver also suggested this famous scene and took a bigger view... 'One of my greatest moments was when the 4th Doctor struggled with the idea of destroying the Daleks forever in Genesis of the Daleks... It would have prevented the Time War, saved Rose from being stuck in another world and saved Donna. And all from touching two wires together...'
