RYDER CUP BLOG

FROM OUR REPORTERS AT THE K CLUB, IRELAND

Tail of two teams

jay_townsend55x55.jpg FLORIDA - It seems Tiger has taken the team by the tail and is ready to lead the way.

He told the press as much this week, and has revealed he has taken some of the American rookies out to dinner to make them feel comfortable with being on the team.

He also dished out some tidbits of advice to help them cope with the whole situation.

Captain Tom Lehman also said that Tiger will 鈥溾. It seems that Tiger has bought into Lehman鈥檚 great desire to win back the cup and bring it back to America where it belongs!

Meanwhile, his counterpart Ian Woosnam could not find the time to bother ringing up his players prior to the selection process.

With Lehman鈥檚 top man already taking rookies out to dinner, the Europeans being favorites might be a bit of a big call.

Tiger has NEVER looked inspired at any of the four previous Ryder Cups I have covered, but if he is, then Europe better watch out.

A team room with Woods being vocal and giving encouragement to everyone has to inspire players to reach their best.

Having heard some very juicy info from the USA鈥檚 鈥溾 to Ireland two weeks ago, I feel that for the first time ever, the Americans are going to be ready to play as ONE and NOT 12 individuals as they have in the past.

Europe here we come!!!!

I think its great that the US team are all getting along nicely and will play well as a team - it makes it all the more special when the European team win again!

A good team spirit is obviously preferable to a splintered group of individuals but it all comes down to hitting the right shots and holing the putts at the right time.

It worries me that should the US win this year it will all be down to the inspired leadership of Tom Lehman and the poor captaincy of Ian Woosnam. Would'nt it be great if we could report on a wonderful event when all the correct pairs were picked, the order of the singles was spot on and the captains said the right thing at the right time - and the quality of the golf was the deciding factor!
