Dromey wins as Labour make an exception

Michael Crick | 19:00 UK time, Friday, 26 February 2010

UPDATE: Sorry, I misheard what Jack Dromey told me after he was selected tonight. He said the last seven Labour selections in the Midlands had either had all women shortlists, OR picked women.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jack Dromey has won the nomination as Labour candidate for Birmingham Erdington.

When I asked a victorious Mr Dromey whether there should have been an All Woman Shortlist in Erdington, he said that the last seven seats selected in this region had had All Women Shortlists.

So it's good for Jack they made an exception for once.

Well I had to smile when I first read this ,I take it Jack and Harriet will be taking a second home there then...What on earth does Dromey know about Erdington or it's inhabitants?I live in Birmingham and believe me that's not somewhere you put at the top of your "must live there" list,it needs someone with knowledge, who cares about the area, and it's community, not another career politician...but that's new labour for you look after their chosen few,at the expense of the people in this country.
I vaguely remember labour and Dromey trying to muscle in to prevent Bill Morris continuing as T&G(now Unite) leader, many moons ago,he didn't succeed though, and hopefully he won't this time round....So the very best of luck to Robert Alden

Boss Hogg without the Dukes of Hazard to do anything about him! It has been chundered among NU Labour insiders for some time that Jack Dromey's supposed search for a London area seat was a smokescreen and he was always destined for a 'safe' seat in the West Midlands. So, we might conclude yesterday's supposed 'news' was a done deal ages ago. It is also muttered that Mrs Dromey has been very impatient with the whole expenses scandal, believing it is none of the public's business. Her divine right tendency is barely hidden, anyway. Conclusion - jeenya1 is absolutely on the mark, and let's watch them 'flip' homes before the dust has settled.

Great on the spot reporting Michael.

Also super flash backs to previous door stepping of Dromey in years gine by.

  • Comment number 11.

Dromey has made enemies that will seek revenge at the right time.

Well some credit to Crick for exposing Labour hypocrisy.
