How much better that Westminster should lead by EXAMPLE. While the standard politician (all-party model) is characterised by every unbecoming aspect of human behaviour (a selection prerequisite for party machines) these disgraceful travesties are in no position to formulate rights and responsibilities FOR ANYONE. Archetypal Jack the more so.

Is anyone at the 91Èȱ¬ covering the story about the expense claims of Dawn Butler (MP and minister) for two homes, both within 10 miles of Westminster?

This has to be one of the saddest blogs ever.
Almost as sad as Jack's rambling, time-wasting BRR presentation to the House.

I've never quite understood why we are supposed to be delighted by the rise of relatives of New Labour politicians. Hilary Benn's neice - by definition Tony Benn's grand daughter- is apparently to stand for parliament. Another one -is it Lord Gould's daughter also waiting to be picked as a candidate. Tony Blair's son got a place at Yale (he had got a 2.1 at Bristol so it's not clear as they say that he would have got there sans papa) and did not have to pay any fees. Need I go on? Snouts in the trough , networking, jobs for the boys and girls, eh?They actually disgust me.

As one of the few active (well, since March 20 - not bad for a political editor) political discussion sites still operating (if not perhaps observed, save by moderators) during the school hols when most reporting staff are off for a few weeks assessing snow conditions in Verbier (for a climate change piece?), might I ask about this comment:

It seems... unfortunate, that I tend now to have more faith in the factual fidelity and investigative rigour that may be enjoyed from a lone, free-to-view blogger of known, admitted political leanings, as opposed to the well staffed, uniquely-funded, 'objective', politically, um... neutral behemoth we are required to co-fund.

I have to say I am intrigued as to what the 'great and good' of 91Èȱ¬ political blogging will find newsworthy enough to discuss upon the great St. Trinian's post-hols return.

Hint... regular interview-friendly guys (sorry:) like Sir Mike and Kevin Maguire not doing so well, even on home ground.
