Paramore - 'Ignorance'
Aw, it feels like ages since I heard a song that so clearly wanted me to break stuff. No nice messages about love and kindness, no bragging, no sincere wishes that we all just try and have the best time we can, seeing as Monday morning is on the way. No, this is all about wilfully knocking tables over and not picking up the mess. It's about throwing all your stuff on the floor and jumping on it, to see what will happen. It's about tripping people over in public and laughing as they fall.*
Paramore, in short, are back, they've been working out, they've got louder, and they're already in a huff. Grab a plate and start chucking!
(. Parcelmore, anyone?)
In the interests of balance, it's important to note that there's a bit in the first chorus where Hayley's voice wobbles, and it is most distracting. The first time she sings "you treat me just like, anuuuuther stranger", it sounds for all the world like an autotune warble. Now, I've no idea if the band are politically opposed to autotune or if they spend every waking moment playing 'I Am T-Pain' on their executive-class platinum iPhones. But, coming straight off the first listen to Cheryl Cole's latest - which also features dalek harmonics - it feels like a strange place to find it.
This is just about the only flaw I can spot though. The band are playing out of their SKINS here. Every second of the song contains a new dynamic thing happening, whether it's a drum fill or a guitar counter-melody, or a chuntery breakdown bit while Hayley shouts about your new best friend, or a series of short sharp brickbat riffs, or a bass-twiddle, or a solo guitar riff, or another riff, or a riff, or a riff, or a riff...
That's how frequently the bits and bobs come flying at you. It feels somewhere between being prodded in the face repeatedly, while being told off by someone who is also hot, and leaping onstage in the middle of an amazing gig, and pushing the drummer down a flight of stairs, kit and all.
And if that doesn't sound like much fun at all, well, you can help clear up when we're done. Everyone else? Heads up! Crockery! Incoming!

PS: Here's the band being very well behaved in the Live Lounge. They do a Kings Of Leon cover, y'know...
* The 91Èȱ¬ would like to point out that tripping people over is not a very nice thing to do, and may result in you getting biffed yourself. We do not recommend it.

yea the song is pretty good, very paramorey and it works... still think that paramore's best moment is the few seconds after the first chrous on 'crushcrushcrush'..
Hayley Williams is quite attractive.. you know who else is? Shakira in her new video. wow.

Although Paramore do get quite a bit of stick, particuarly over here, for being "emo", they have some great material in amongst that. I have to be in the right mood to listen to them, but they tick every box when I am in that sort of mood (i.e even slightly grumpy, they will do).

'RIOT!', their second album I loved simply cos of its mere simplicity.
Judging by 'Ignorance', I will most definitely be going out to buy their new album 'Brand New Eyes' released 28th September!
Glad the Chart Blog gave this a 5 star rating!
And Hayley is absolutely gorgeous! She just gets more and more sexy with every music video!

They don't try and over-complicate their lyrics and they don't write simple-chords-played-with-heavy-disortion music (Fall Out Boy: looking at you). Their albums have been a tad hit-and-miss in my opinion, but this song feels like the formula has come together perfectly, and the album 'brand new eyes' has been getting rave reviews. Definitely gonna try for tour tickets. Has made up for 'Decode' which I didn't like that much, and has surpassed Let The Flames Begin as their best song.

Not one of their greatest , hence the reason why , it failed to even make the top 40 here .
This is all set to change with the release yesterday of the new Paramore album "Brand new eyes "
Having listened to it , and taking into acount Ignorance being a big top 20 hit , and having a very large radio profile , I think this album is gonna be their biggest selling album at retail .
As Random , alluded to recently , the next single BRICK BY BORING BRICK , is a very good track and will also galvanise added interest in album sales .
My friend at HMV , said that yesterday it was their biggest seller, topping Madonna and Newton Faulkner .
Whether Paramore can topple Madonna at the top of the album charts is a very big ask , but it has thousands of pre orders and the bands star is certainly rising .
I certainly expect a top 5 entry ,but outselling Madonna will be a huge task .

I do like it.
Really liked Twilight too .
I can see why Robert Pattinson is a sex symbol !
Talk about handsome , brooding looks.
Twilight is a good bittersweet love story.
4 stars.

Twlight... tricky one. 3 stars. I was bored and read all the books.. they are more entertaining. But poorly written.

The battle between Paramore AND Madonna will go right to the wire , I suspect.
Madonna sold 77,000 copies of her greatest hits compilation last week to debut at number 1.
This week will be very interesting.

Well done , a lot of good songs and hard work has paid off !
If Fraser comes on now , and tells us that last week , more people didn't buy the Paramore album than people who did , then I will refer him to Mr AND Mrs Random Enigma !
Warranted success should always be respected .

For a band that came from nowhere four years ago and all being under 25 years old, I am simply delighted that they managed to knock a legendary act such as Madonna of the top spot! Plus they're also down to Earth and in an age where music is so calculated, there songs just stand out as being so honest!
Yeah, where did my enigmatic wife go?
So Paramore are now Number 1 in UK, Ireland and Australia and set to hit the top spot in their native US! Nice one!

Not for the first time in life and definitely not the last , I have had my eyes opened to the brilliance of a song by hearing it a few times more , and I am prepared to change stance.
First , A Dustland Fairytale and now Decode .
Moral of the story ?
Listen to a song at least 5 times in different settings , before commenting on it.
