Livvi Franc ft. Pitbull - 'Now I'm That Chick'
The Story So Far: Akon (with the help of David Guetta) releases a hit song in which he creates a scenario where his best chat-up line - the line he believes is the least disrespectful of all possible lines, remember - is "damn, you a sexy chick", only he doesn't say chick, he says a word I can't use here. Chick was only added so it could be played on the radio.
We mentioned it at the time, as a good example of funny lyrics as much as anything else, and then raised the idea that perhaps calling people offensive names isn't the nicest way of going about your business, even if you get away with it most of the time.
Now here's a song which hopes to exploit both sides of this debate - with the same word-switch. And again, the people leading the discussion are not the people you would normally expect to have, well, let's be frank, THE FIRST CLUE about gender politics.
( That man-hide sofa looks uncomfortable.)
I mean, here's Pitbull - PITBULL, GAWDSAKES - attempting empathy with poor Livvi, who feels that she has been forced to act in a manner she considers to be close to That Word Again, just because she has a broken heart. He's concerned, but supportive. Points out that anything which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger*, but then slightly spoils it by admitting that he almost likes her better when she's being bad.
He doesn't quite say the sentence that begins "damn...", but it's a similar ballpark, and just as funny the second time around.
Meanwhile, Livvi is all up in her ex's face, yelling about how, if it turns out that she's not a very nice person these days, it's entirely his fault. She didn't want to have to be that person, but extreme emotions cause extreme reactions, and if he thinks he's going to get close to her ever again, he's got another think coming.
So, in a way it's a step on from the Akon scenario, cos at least it's a girl using the word on herself, and in the context of "if I am that thing, it is because you made me it, I don't WANT to be like this", rather than a boy walking up to an innocent stranger and calling her names. She also claims it's an acronym for Babe In Total Control of Herself.
Of course, in another - more real - sense, it's just a silly pop song, attempting to stir up some interest by using a cuss word.

*That's not true, by the way. Lots of things which don't kill you have no effect whatsoever. The colour yellow, for example. Or music you have never heard. Or a rainy day on the other side of the world.

The only part of the song I can actually remember is "Now I'm that (Auto-Tune) chick" and a lot of sassy attitude from Livvi Franc.
"Babe In Total Control of Herself" lol! What will these air-headed celebrities think of next!!!
