Take That - 'I'd Wait For Life'
I don't want to like this. I really don't. There's too much at stake. For starters, the song itself is little more than Mark Owen's debut solo single 'Child', only with a little nip and tuck to try and disguise the passing years. All of the arrangement ideas for the song have been pinched from the Beatles, together or solo. And - irony of ironies - they are the exact same musical ideas ('Hey Jude' with added George Harrison-type slide guitar, basically) that Robbie pinched when he put 'Angels' together.
So, it's a familiar song, and the latest in a long line of other familiar songs, some of which were by other members of this ex-boyband, some by former members of this ex-boyband, and some by former members of the ORIGINAL ex-boyband. And as such, it's a photocopy of a printout of a scan of a polaroid of a drawing of a film-still of a painting which was finished 40 years ago.
BUT...maybe it's the hayfever, maybe it's the suddenly rainy weather after a few weeks of warmth, maybe it's the fact that 'Shine' is STILL making me smile even after being playing every ten seconds on every radio and music TV station in the land, but...but...this is really nice.
OMG! WHAT HAVE I DONE???
Should you ever find yourself leaving the train station, having just said goodbye to someone you really care about, and they're going to be away for longer than a week, and you don't really know how you're going to fill your time while they're gone, and where they're going has no phone coverage, wifi compatibility or web cafe, and therefore there's no chance you'll get to speak to them in the meantime...
...well, let's just say that you may find this song useful. This song or that hidden extra track on the Feeling's album (don't get me started on THAT, either). But not one after the other, OK? Otherwise you'll turn the station into a salt-water marina...

This is... booorrrrrinnnnnngggg! Seriously, this song makes me go to sleep!
'Miss You', the hidden extra track on 'Twelve Stops And 91Èȱ¬' is lovely. Romantic, calm and sad all at once, there is absolutly NO point comparing this to 'I'd Wait For Life' at all! I am very annoyed with you now.
[There's always a point comparing stuff to stuff. Like I like jam, but I don't like Snow Patrol. Cover Snow Patrol in jam, and you just watch how confused I get. - Fraser]
are you allowed to say that you dont like certain bands fraser? i would have thought that its an obligation of your job to atleast seem to like everyone, but that doesnt mean everything obviously as else all your ratings would be 4 and 5 stars!
[I'm allowed to say what I believe to be true after listening to the music with as open a mind as I can muster. That's the simplest way of putting it. I don't lie, and neither do I go into a review with any preconceived ideas, even one for a song by Snow Patrol. Anyone who does reviews for ChartBlog works under that premise. I've no idea how genre publications like NME or Kerrang! do theirs, mind... - Fraser]
well genre publiations like kerrang and nme are genre publications so whilst they might not like, i dunno, 50 cent theyr not likely to write anything about him either!
I think Take That are fantastic and alwayz will be
i think some of the comments have been doing a vanishing trick from here....OR, oh no, your invisible thieve plan backfired on you!
I don't get the video but the song is great, it's one of those power-ballads every boy band should write. Good job Take That!

[Wow. Just imagine how cross you'd have been if I HADN'T given it four stars and generally said how good it is. - Fraser]
This song is fab. Really didn't like it at first but the video changed my mind. Weird but excellent. Just wish it would get more airplay.
