Switches - 'Drama Queen'
You know what? I like this, but do you think for the life of me I can put my finger on exactly why? Nope. First I thought that maybe it was the high pitched "ooh"–ing, combined with the grinding guitar riffs and the Vines-meets-Blur vocals that was doing it for me. And sure, they are nice, but they're not THE thing...

I don't even think it has anything to do with the hook "but it remains to be seen if you've got what it takes to be Queen", their pretty harmonies, or the darkish lyrics that are thrown in too. Then I thought that maybe it's the bit at the end where Matt sings over more "ooh"–ing to create an optimum head-nodding moment...but gah! It's not that either!
But that's when I twigged, it's ALL of these things all together at once, plus the fact that the band sound far older and wiser than you would expect from four young lads from Southend (no offence, Saafenders!).
Phew! Glad to have got the analysis out of the way...anyone fancy a dance?
