Glamour Model Mum, Baby and Me

Alicia Douvall, Georgia Douvall and Papaya Douvall.

Alicia Douvall is a glamour model and mum to sixteen year old Georgia and six month old Papaya.Last year we followed Alicia鈥檚 addiction to plastic surgery and her tempestuous relationship with Georgia in Glamour Models, Mum and Me. In this follow-up documentary, Glamour Model Mum, Baby and Me, their lives are thrown upside down when Alicia becomes a mother for the second time. Georgia reluctantly goes to America with Alicia during her mock exams to babysit whilst her mum has more cosmetic surgery. Below Georgia gives us the low down on her unconventional relationship with her mum.

The way my mum told me she was pregnant was 鈥淕ood night honey. Oh, and I鈥檓 pregnant.鈥 I thought she was joking as she jokes with me a lot. I felt a mixture of excitement and disappointment. I knew how much she struggled with me and I didn鈥檛 know how she was going to cope being a single parent again. Things were completely going to change, and I was not sure if it was for the better.

Her bump seemed to grow very quickly but I knew mum not being with the father meant things weren't going to be easy for us. I told my friends at school and they were all excited, some even bought baby clothes. That took some of the fear away and I will always appreciate my friends for that.

I went for a scan with mum and they told us it was going to be a girl. I could see her arms and legs kicking around and her heart beating strong, and that鈥檚 when I fell in love with her. Mum asked me to be there for the birth. I didn鈥檛 want to to start with because, as you can imagine, it seemed a scary scenario. What if something went wrong, and what could I do anyway? However I agreed, because she had no one else.

Alicia and Georgia Douvall

The big day finally came on December 23rd 2011 after nine months of mum feeling fat, teary, happy and apprehensive! At six am we walked to the hospital ready for mum鈥檚 planned c-section.听 Of course with my mum there is always drama; she was in two minds over whether to go ahead with the operation. The doctors told her that if she went into labour over Christmas she might end up having a c-section with a junior doctor. After years of having plastic surgery, a bad scar across her tummy was worse than her fear of child birth!

We sat in the waiting room until they wheeled her in and then it was too late to turn back! Before I knew it I was cutting the cord of this tiny baby who was screaming her head off, but looked perfect. I was amazed and in awe. Christmas day came around and because my mum suffered complications, we ended up spending it in hospital with no decorations or presents and with a cold, horrible hospital dinner, but somehow none of that mattered. My baby sister was the best present we could have had.

Papaya is nearly 6 months old now, and she鈥檚 made me realise that I don鈥檛 want to have children for a long time. I want to be married and settled and not worried about what tomorrow will bring. My mum is a strong women but I can see that bringing up two kids alone without a steady income is hard and you have to make sacrifices that I鈥檓 not sure I鈥檇 want to make. I鈥檓 planning on going to University to study Drama, English and Biology and hope to be working as a serious actress in the future.

I am watching this program with mouth agape, thoroughly horrified! This is like watching a real life version of Absolutely Fabulous. The demented, self obsessed mother and the mature, intelligent daughter - my heart literally bleeds for Georgia, forced to abandon her studies due to her foul mother's eternal quest for perfection. Not allowed to spend time with her friends as Alicia doesn't want to lose her or let her grow up, yet left to hold the baby and step into the shoes of Mum to baby Papaya (I ask you!!?) while her Mum has more surgery. Truly depressing. It's a miracle Georgia has turned out so well, and it is no thanks to her terrible Mum.

Georgia you're exactly what 16 year olds should be like today! Not into drugs and sex! You're both gorgeous and lucky to have eachother x

What a lovely young lady Georgia is! Despite all the pressures of her life, she manages to keep a level head and doesn't lose it with her mother (at least on camera). She's obviously intelligent and I'm sure, in time, she'll lead a happy, successful life, independent of her mother.

I want to wish Georgia the very best for the future, which I'm sure will be bright - her tolerance and composure are comendable, particularly considering her age and difficult domestic circumstances. Really hope she gets to enjoy a little more freedom now, was very touched by this doc

Georgia, I'm the same age as your mum and am bringing up two children alone so understand how difficult it can be and also her fears of allowing you freedom. However, you are such a lovely family and i hope my daughter grows up to be as sensible and lovely as you are, you seem a beautiful person inside and out. Your mum has done a great job at bringing you up and should be proud of herself, although maybe she should relax a bit on the curfew, best wishes with your studies :)

    Dear Georgia

Have just finished watching 'Glamour Model Mum, Baby and Me' - I would just like to say you seem so grounded, genuine, caring, selfless, unpretentious and such a lovely young woman. Your mum I am sure, is so, so proud of you. I will be honest there were times during the documentary that I wanted to shout at your mum (with a few expletive swear words as well) "let Georgia have some space and be allowed to grow up a normal teenager and have some freedom". I am so pleased that she saw sense!!!!

You are an absolute sweetheart, a credit to your family/generation and I wish you all the luck with your A Levels and for the future, lots of love to you and your family.

I must admit when I started watching this I thought is this going to be some naff 'glamour model' documentry but I was pleasantly suprised and I found it very touching to watch you and your mum's relationship. I too am a single mum and have brought my daughter up by myself. I work very hard and just about manage to send her to a private school because I want her to have the best start in life that I can give her. She reminded me of you...very caring and sensible. Your mum should be proud of you but then again she must have done something right or you wouldn't be the person you are :-) I understand why your mum is scared, with the world the way it is but she has to trust you, especially as you are such a sensible young lady. I wish you all the best with your future, and hope that your mum grows to love herself for who she is.

Could relate to this doc in a number of ways... found it really moving. Fair play to Georgia, she does an amazing job. A very admiral person, coping with many struggles that many couldn't imagine.

Dear Georgia... You are just the sweetest young lady ever!!!....... Such a beautiful girl. Your mother has done a fabulous job bringing you up. Us mother's can be a tad too over protective at time's... It only say's one thing. That we love and care. x

Hi everyone - thanks for taking the time to comment on Georgia's blog. Georgia's read them all and has asked us to post this reply:

Myself and my mum have been really touched by your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed watching it! Life is never dull in our household and I wouldn't have it any other way!

have to agree with all the comments about you young lady and it gladdens my heart , your mum is a bit over powering but her heart is def in the right place god bless you all x

I could not believe how selfish Alicia was, the poor daughter Georgia who is at her mum's beck and call is 16 and never allowed to be alone with her friends, If her mother had ever bothered meeting them in the first place she would have seen for herself how grown up her daughter is and her good choice of friends. I feel mum is scared of being left alone which I understand but having another baby to fill the space ! Mothers so concerned with Georgia's education and sex but when it comes to the importants of her exams Mother comes first, how selfish, not letting Georgia study and booking her face surgery before Georgia's exams, also not letting her have a rest during her week off. Alicia first words when she returned from surgery was about herself and surgery not asking after how her two daughters were who had been left alone for 11 hours. If she has money, for repeat surgery, why not take a good friend of Georgia's along to keep company. Mother wants daughter to be well behaved and not bring sex into her life but throws a Tarts and Vickers party for daughter and her friends, such an unsuitable theme, what kind of message does that send out. Georgia seems a lovely unselfish girl, guess she takes after her dad. Best thing Georgia can do is get out and explore life how else are you going to learn and Georgia will make mistake but thats how we learn. Georgia should put herself first sometimes. I'm pleased she gets on with her mum but I think off to university if possible asap, away from mum for a while.

just a lovely programme which allows us to see that parenthood is not sterio type and to prejudge is dangerous. georgia is lovley but so is her mother who has probably had to overcome some hurdles in her life but she has given the two girls a great grounding and should be proud of herself.
    well done alicia

I'm sorry but I find Alicia selfish. It's all about her, not putting her children first. Asking her daughter to miss a day's of her photography mocks because she wants to fly to Boston to have her face done. Again. Surely her daughter's education and ambitions are more important than her own ? Georgia is a credit to her mum though. Very caring and giving and patient !! If and when Alicia lets her go she will undoubtedly make a great success of her life.

  • Comment number 20.

As difficult as it is being a single parent it is ridiculous that you leave you newborn baby alone with you 16 year old while you get cosmetic surgery. It would be better if you looked outside of your world Alicia and saw what a kind loving person your daughter has become probably through having to look after you... The grief you gave her over her mock exam was silly you need to encourage her with her exams they are not easy ? You need to be the parent - which means putting her first and also she needs to be allowed to grow not be smothered. You are a great team but if you love someone you allow them to be free to grow and do some or most of the things they want. She will only learn by finding out herself. Your daughter clearly knows right from wrong because you have taught her - don't worry! Otherwise you will just grow apart and argue. Get some help with your plastic surgery addiction you'll be more beautiful without it! Be happy !

I totally agree with bemused alicia is selfish she refuses her daughter to go out to go to her friends home. but its ok for her and drag king looking friend to go clubbing hopefully for a pull on the night out. thats probabaly why she can not disclose the baby father name possibly a one night stand.

her daughter georga is a little darling even though I feel sorry her. perhaps there is some jeolousy from her mother towards her why she wont let her go out as she is totally natural.

as for alicia addiction to plastic surgery she is looking scarred and old and there is only so much surgery she can have at 32 as she claims she looks more like 43.

I think in thier relationship that georga seems to be more the grown up. lets just hpoe papaya follows georga direction not be a lapped out old glamour model.

Georgia is an exceptional human being. Alicia is complicated, damaged and yet strong and she must be doing something right because her daughter is lovely. Georgia's boyfriend is ever so sweet. I wish them all happiness. God Bless you all

  • Comment number 23.

The thing that annoyed me was Alicia expected Georgia to look after her daugher alot of the time, Georgia didn't ask to become a mother so why should she be left holding the baby whilst her Mum has more plastic surgery and then goes out clubbing and won't even let her go round her friends house. Alicia seems so selfish and seems to be scared of being on her own. She needs to let her daughter have her own space and friends. Georgia is a lovely girl, sensible, beautiful and intelligent and will make a great life for herself (once she is allowed to)!!!

  • Comment number 24.

To be fair to Alicia she had just given birth and hormones are all over the place during that time and I think she is actually ok as a person and obviously fun to be around at times. I don't think that kids should be kept in the dark about things which go on and parents should be open hence the "drag and pimps" party. But that entails everything even alcohol and drugs. If Georgia gets a nasty hangover from having a few bottles of wine with her mum she'd be less tempted to go and get hammered with her friends. But I'm not suggesting they should do this but in France kids start drinking at an early age with meals and they don't have a problem with binge drinking in France because they learn how to moderate it. Its like a dentist saying to their kids "No you cant eat any sweets" and then as soon as the kid moves away from home - It eats so many sweets it becomes allergic or obese.

I just simply can't agree more with @Lolly. Georgia you are such an amazing beautiful human being! Same, I wanted to shout and swear at Alicia all the time. It is understandable that she doesn't want to let go. It was hard to have someone you love around, so she wants to keep Georgia around forever! Well, I would say if she loves Georgia she should learn to let go. Luckily Georgia is so sensible and responsible, and that she loves her mum. If not I am sure she would go rebel, do drugs and move-out with "a boyfriend".
I also find Alicia really unreasonable -- that she cares about her daughter, but she does not put Georgia's academic commitments on the first priority. That really shocked me.
Georgia is such a mature and intelligent individual. She really should be allowed to be fully committed to developing her own future. Think Alicia really need to learn more how to put family/people she loves in front of herself (i.e. If not emergency situation, she should not go to Boston and let her daughter tired out looking baby-sitting instead of doing revision! I am sure she could have waited till Easter!)

So Georgia, you are amazing. Know that you have such heavy commitment on your shoulder at such a young age. But you know, you have the whole UK (well, audiences of the program) behind your back. Please pls pls do not let anyone drag you down. Please live your dream. Do not run away from reality no matter how hard it becomes. You will shine. We are so proud of you.

I loved watching this program, because despite the sense that your mum seems to demonstrate a great deal of insecurity and silliness, she appears to have managed to have a pretty nurturing relationship with you and you seem pretty well adjusted and a bit of a winner. I'm not one for most "reality" tv programs but I'd want to watch this if it turned into a series as the dynamics of your family seem pretty uplifting. Best wishes to all three of you for your futures.

l love watching this programme, and it seems you do pretty much everything for your mother, im atleast a year older than you and i find it difficult doing just the littlest things, it's good you have a really good relationship with your mum but i think she should let you be free and make your own decisions in life, to go out with your friends and have a normal teenage life. I think your amazing at what your doing though, your a very nice and beautiful person and i hope you follow your dreams.
