Habitats - where do different owls live?
Description
A look at different types of owls around the world - snowy owls in the Arctic, great grey owls in the pine forest, elf owls in the desert, flammulated owls in mountain forests and how they have adapted to the different places they live in.
Classroom Ideas
The clip gives opportunities for discussion and work based around adaptation and evolution. The pupils could give reasons why the birds featured are all from the same species based on observed characteristics. Some of the owls are highly adapted to their environment and the clip could be used to identify features. It could be used to promote discussion about what would happen if the habitats were to change.
