Why do we take medicine?
Description
When we become ill, we sometimes need to take medicine to make us better. We should only take medicines which are intended for us. Some people need to take medicine regularly. Some children who suffer from asthma explain what it鈥檚 like to have asthma. The safe storage of medicine is also discussed.
Classroom Ideas
Encourage students to create posters and guides to instruct others on how to use medicines safely. Students could also create their own role-plays on medicines and their safety.
When studying medicines, students could be given an outline of the body and could be asked to suggest some medicines they have heard of or taken, and how they can help people get better after being ill.
Alternatively, students could research medical pioneers and their discoveries e.g. Sir Alexander Fleming. They could write up their findings and present them to the rest of the class.
