Australia鈥檚 gold rush

Description

From the middle of the 19th Century, Highlanders suffering from the impact of the potato famine were channelled towards Australia by the government. At the same time, a gold rush was drawing prospectors from around the world. As existing Australians went in search of gold, the vacant jobs they left increased the job prospects for the arriving Scots.
