Money plays an important role in everyday life.

The coins and notes we use are just a helpful way to measure what things are worth, like using centimetres to measure length.

When we go to buy several items in a shop, it is important to add together the price of the items.

This makes sure we have enough money to be able to afford to buy them.

If we鈥檙e paying for something and we hand over a note that is a higher value than the cost of an item, for example we give the shopkeeper a 拢5 note to pay for a magazine that costs 拢2.60, we need to make sure we can work out the correct amount of change we should be given back.

In this video CAL has 拢10. He wants to buy a hat and scarf, but he also wants to purchase his lunch.

Will CAL have enough money for both?

Can CAL afford lunch?
