What are more economically developed countries?
Description
MEDCs are largely located in the Northern Hemisphere. One of the keys to their development is their moderate climate which allows natural resources to be exploited effectively and which is suitable for agriculture. Developed countries have the financial resources to provide a high level of education, health care and housing. Industry and urban living has altered the way we live and work and have changed the types of diseases from which we suffer - largely non-infectious diseases.
Classroom Ideas
This is a good visual introduction to the climatic and economic advantages of the developed world. What are the geographical and cultural factors that have led to their development? Discuss newly industrialised countries and how they fit with this model and consider the effect that globalised trade and migration have had.
