How do you write a sentence?
Linking words together in the right way makes your writing easy to understand and interesting to read.
When you are writing, words are grouped together into sentences.
There are a few simple rules you need to follow to make sure your sentences are clear.
Firstly, a sentence needs a capital letter at the beginning and a punctuation mark at the end, like a full stop (.), a question mark (?) or an exclamation mark (!).
A sentence also needs a verb in it and it must make complete sense all on its own.

When we write things down, it鈥檚 important to keep things nice and clear, so it鈥檚 easy to read.
Sentences help us give and order, ask a question, state a fact or express an emotion or idea.
Words are the building blocks of sentences.
The small spaces in-between help to keep things tidy.

Ouch. Someone really should look into that.
Anyway, sentences have basic rules.

The subject is the who or what of a sentence.
Yes, crane is the subject.
Er, but we still need a verb, which is a doing word.

Ah! Time for a break.
[SCREAMING, LOUD DISTANT CRASH]
Not that kind of break! That鈥檚 gotta hurt鈥
