'Boy: Tales of Childhood' by Roald Dahl - the bicycle (dramatisation)
Description
Extract from a dramatisation of Roald Dahl鈥檚 book 鈥楤oy: Tales from Childhood鈥. The young Roald Dahl watches an older boy on a bike, freewheeling down a hill. A voiceover in the role of Dahl lets us know that at that moment, his only ambition is to be like the older boy.
Classroom Ideas
Students could think of a time when they admired or idolised someone else greatly. Students could write an account of the experience, using as much detail as possible. What were they doing at the time? Where did they see the person they were admiring? Students could be told that their account will be kept private to encourage greater expression in their writing.
