Evaluating expressive work
You must evaluate your expressive portfolio using the SQA template. The template must not be altered and you must not exceed the space provided. When complete, it should be attached to the first sheet of your portfolio.
Your evaluation should answer questions about your sources of artistic inspiration, your own expressive idea and your reflections on your process and the development of your work.
You could adapt the following questions as a guide.
Review and reflect on your creative process:
- What was the theme of your portfolio and what attracted you to it?
- What subject matterThe topic or objects chosen for representation in an expressive artwork. In portraiture, the person represented is referred to as the 鈥榮ubject鈥 or 鈥榮itter鈥., materials and techniques did you decide to use and why?
- Were you inspired by a particular artist and in what way?
- How did you develop and improve your compositionArrangement of different elements within an artwork or design. ideas?
- What were the challenges and how did you respond to them?
- What do you think about your development work and how did it help you to refine your idea?
- How well did you respond to your theme?
- How did your work change through the portfolio?
- How did your skills develop during the portfolio?
- What would you do differently in the future and why?
Review and reflect on your final piece:
- How have you used visual elements such as line, toneTone generally describes how dark or light something is. It can also mean a colour created by mixing a pure hue with grey., colour and shape, and what was the effect?
- What materials did you use, and why? Did they work successfully?
- What meaning and messages did you want to convey and were you successful?
- What is your opinion of your final piece? What elements do you think are successful and why?
- What would you do differently in the future and why?
