Surgery

- Less effective if the tumour has spread or is inaccessible
Radiotherapy
- X-rays are used to kill cancer cells
- Very accurate at targeting even small tumours
- Normal cells can also be killed on exposure to the X-rays
Chemotherapy
- Drugs are used to kill cancer cells anywhere in the body
- Normal cells can also be killed
- Side effects (e.g. hair loss)
Immunotherapy

- Phagocytes can then locate and destroy cancer cells
- A targeted treatment with fewer side effects than other treatments
