You will notice that many of these themes appear in the form of questions. The History Boys seems to be more interested in making you think than in providing easy answers.
It is also interesting that the play is not very historically accurate – it is full of Alan Bennett’s memories of his own 1950s school days transplanted to the 1980s. It contains anachronismThings that are placed in the wrong time period.. This implies that history is not necessarily accurate either.
