Section One
This section consists of six or seven questions and assesses workshop-based manufacture and design.
Question one has 30 marks and is only about workshop-based manufacture.
It assesses the knowledge and skills that you have gained in class on a range of materials, hand tools and machinery. It is based on your experiences in the workshop when crafting products.
It follows a similar format each year. This is based on a familiar object that you could have produced in the workshop. It requires question responses to practical manufacturing tasks.
The remaining questions in Section One are worth 30 marks and focus on design assessment. The context of the questions is on particular aspects of the design of products.

- Idea generation techniques
- Modelling
- Design factors
