Overview
Alison struggles with the relationship she has with her mum. She grows increasingly isolated as she searches for a way to make her mum love her.
Like Hieroglyphics and All That Glisters, Dear Santa is told in A type of story which is told from the point of view of one of the characters using from the perspective of the main character, Alison. In common with many of Donovan's short stories. Dear Santa is an A narrative technique that shares a character's flow of thoughts with the reader., which allows the reader to understand the perspective of Alison. Her thoughts are captured in her own accent which locates the story in Glasgow. The title reveals that the story is set at Christmas time.
