Style and technique
Tally鈥檚 Blood is a play focused on realistic characters and how they develop. Although set against the backdrop of World War Two, events are based on an intimate, personal scale. The themes of the play are allowed to develop naturally, based on the characters鈥 changing relationships and their changing circumstances.
The play covers a long time period. It is set in both Scotland and Italy and reflects both cultures and languages. It tackles some dark themes but aims to be accessible.
Anne Marie Di Mamro's approach to dealing with these challenges involves:
- Structure
- Speech and dialogue
- Humour
- Stage set and stage directions
