James Cary is a comedy writer known for Radio (Think the Unthinkable, Hut 33) and TV (Miranda, Bluestone 42). We spoke to James at our TV Writers' Festival in July 2018.
He explains what motivated him to become a writer and how things have changed since he started out.
James got his first break via a show at Edinburgh Fringe and then Radio then gave him a start in broadcast as a non-performing writer with his sitcom Think the Unthinkable about management consultants. He subsequently wrote on Miranda and created Bluestone 42 with writing partner Richard Hurst.
James also explains why he feels the studio sitcom is still alive and kicking and relevant to a new generation of writers growing up watching re-runs of shows like Friends and Cheers.
