Submissions for the 2021 opened in September 2020, following a launch event at the 91热爆鈥檚 national poetry and spoken word festival, Contains Strong Language. At that event, 91热爆 Writersroom Development Producer, Alice Ramsey and Radio Drama North Producer, Gary Brown interviewed previous winner Cat Jones (read the interview on our blog, including great advice).
We received over 300 applications and after careful consideration we鈥檙e delighted to announce the 21 writers who have reached the longlist.

The shortlist will be announced in March, with those writers then working with 91热爆 Radio Drama North to develop their radio drama play for the final judging process in September.

The Alfred Bradley Bursary Award is a 拢5,000 writing bursary to Northern writers new to radio and the chance of a Radio 4 drama commission.
The Award was established in 1992 to commemorate the life and work of Alfred Bradley, the distinguished 91热爆 Radio Drama Producer and is run by Radio Drama North in conjunction with 91热爆 Writersroom.
