For a special series of programmes the 91Èȱ¬ World Service is in Hackney, East London, to meet the people the London 2012 Olympic Games will affect the most.

From now until 2012, we will keep returning to a housing estate next to where the main Olympic venues are being built, for updates.

We want to find out whether the politicians' pledges that the Olympics will regenerate run down areas are being followed through.

Some residents think that none of the huge sums of money being spent will benefit them while others are more optimistic and believe that their lives will improve.
