Slick Willie Shaw tells Raise Your Game why teamwork is fundamental to the success of the Harlem Globetrotters.
Raise Your Game: How does it feel to be a Harlem Globetrotter?
Slick Willie Shaw: It's been the greatest experience of my life. You get the chance to travel, see the world, put a smile on people's faces and entertain people all over the world. It gets no better than that and I'm doing what I love - still playing the game of basketball.

RYG: How did it all start for you?
SWS: I was playing in the semi-pro league in Las Vegas and I managed to make it to the All Star game. The head scout for the Harlem Globetrotters was there and he liked me so I've been doing it ever since. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me!
RYG: What inspires the Harlem Globetrotters?
SWS: We introduce the game of basketball. We try to make it fun and we do a lot of exciting things. We want everyone to have a blast when they come to see the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. Smiles are priceless!
RYG: How do you build team spirit?
SWS: We're with each other more than we're with our families so we're all like brothers. Just like any family, you've got to build a tight bond. We have to become close to be able to go out there every night and put on a great show for people all over the world. We have to know one another well in order to perform well.
RYG: What advice would you give to any young people looking to follow your lead?
SWS: Work hard and get your education first. Never let anybody tell you that you can't do anything. Whatever you want to do, just put your mind to it, give 110% at all times and stay positive.
