As Radio One's Big Weekend decended on Wales for the biggest free party in Europe, the station's Welsh presenter Bethan Elfyn took a look at the country's biggest musical export of the last decade: rock.
Heading into the heart of the South Wales Valleys towns of Merthyr, Pontypridd, and Bridgend, Bethan found out why so many bands from Lostprophets to The Blackout to Kids in Glass Houses want to make such epic noise. In their own words, this is the story of how Welsh rock took on the world. Like Zane Lowe said, "There's something in the water!"
Here you can watch videos shot as Bethan conducted interviews with The Blackout and Kids In Glass Houses, and catches up with the familes of both bands' lead singers.
You can also find out more about a few of the bands coming through in the wake of those bands.
Lastly, we caught up with Welsh producer Romesh Dodangoda, who's worked with many of the new generation of rock bands.
