This is the latest in a series of similar events around Wales organised by The Big Welsh Challenge in conjunction with the local Welsh for Adults Centres. In October last year learners in Maesteg were able to draw some inspiration from the Welsh learner of the year Julie MacMillan, who was one of the guest speakers, along with Big Welsh Challenge presenter Dewi Pws and Pobol y Cwm actress Lisa Victoria.

Dean Hamilton from Bridgend joined the entry level group. "I absolutely loved the day. I persuaded a friend to come who said he'd learnt more in that one day than in three weeks of lessons," he said.
