Is summer finally here? Maybe, just maybe, it's time to try out our homemade ice cream - perfect for cooling off on a hot day.
As well as a delicious, dairy-free treat, this strawberry and banana ice cream recipe is a great way of adding more fruit into your child's day and helping little hands get involved in the kitchen. Mashing and mixing might get a little messy, but it's loads of fun too!
Specialist children's dietitian Angharad Banner has created this recipe using strawberries and bananas, but ask your child if they want to add a dash of another favourite fruit into the mixing bowl. Making choices in the kitchen helps to build their confidence.
Ingredients
160ml coconut cream
2 medium-sized bananas

8. Freeze for 6-8 hours
9. Enjoy!
Why is this recipe great for kids?
Angharad Banner is a NHS-registered children's dietitian. She says, "It's that lovely time of year when strawberries are everywhere! Have you tried picking your own?"
"The combination of bananas and strawberries makes the ice cream extra delicious and it's packed with Vitamin C, which helps to keep us free from summer coughs and colds."
"Ice cream or lolly moulds are really cheap and a useful thing to have, so you can keep a constant supply of cooling ice cream in the freezer."
