How this helps
This is a great activity for little ones to learn how to take turns, follow simple instructions and listen to simple questions.
鈥 The more children hear the names of different parts of the face and body, the quicker they'll understand and be able to use the words correctly.
鈥 Seeing the words used for the same things in different contexts will help them realise that words like 'nose' all refer to the same things.
鈥 When children feel their carer's touch, it helps strengthen their understanding that they鈥檙e naming parts of their own face and is great for boosting happy hormones.

Instructions for parents/carers
鈥 Encourage parents and carers to sit face to face with their little ones.
鈥 Ask parents to name all the parts of their little one鈥檚 face and body one at a time, touching or pointing to them as they go.
鈥 Repeat and take turns to name the same parts of your own face and body.
鈥 Ask them to point to the same parts of their own face and body naming them as they go.
For older children
鈥 Ask them to point to the parts of their face and body鈥 and then ask them to point to their carer's face and body, then teddy鈥檚 face and body.
