No it's a Hartlepool fan!The phrase “Super Fan” is used to describe the most die hard supporters. But what does it take to claim that title? 91ȱ Tees met Noel Brown to see just how much dedication and love it takes to follow the Pools... If you spend your Saturday’s sitting in the stand, watching your favourite football team trying desperately to get those much needed three points, then you will almost certainly know of someone who falls into the “Super Fan” category. But what does it take to be a Hartlepool Super Fan? Well if it means not missing a game, home or away for the last 10 years, and having a collection of match-day programmes dating back to the 1950's, then Noel certainly ticks the boxes. An avid Pools fan since he was a child, Noel Brown is also the chairman of the Hartlepool Supporters Club, a position he has held for over five years, helping to arrange travel and accommodation for other fans. Just a small amount of Noels collection. But what is more impressive, other than his work for the club he loves, is his collection of match-day programmes which are stored in pizza boxes, unused obviously. "It's just something I started when I was a kid, I'd go to the game and make sure I left with a programme in my hand, it's all about the memories for me", said Noel. After not missing a game for over ten years, Noel admits it would have to take something earth shattering in order to not attend a game. "The last time I missed a game I was in hospital and I remember climbing out of bed to try and find the nearest radio, that way I could at least hear the game, but I think the doctors just thought I was nuts." If that wasn't testament enough to Noel and his love for Pools, February 14th is a date that he will never forget. For the romantics reading this, you will know that date is Valentines day, but for Noel it was Kevin Keegan's birthday and also the day he decided to go and see Hartlepool play away to Northampton Town. "It was a random trip, me and a friend were a little worse for wear and we decided to just do it, the only thing is I didn't realise it was Valentines day until I was there. last updated: 05/11/2008 at 17:38 Have Your SayDo you know any Hartlepool Super Fans ?
