- Concorde was the first supersonic passenger aircraft. It was an engineering triumph and has achieved iconic status. However, it was also a hugely costly project and had limited impact on mass transport. Concorde was developed as a joint project between the British and French governments.
Work progressed throughout the 1960s on two prototypes, one in the UK and one in France. This report is from 1966 - three years before Concorde's maiden flight at Toulouse in 1969. Concorde made her last flight in 2003.
