Synopsis

A family of three Billy Goats Gruff ate whatever they could find. There was Little Billy Goat, there was Medium Billy Goat, and finally there was Big Billy Goat.

Then one day, they ate the very last piece of grass in their field. The Three Billy Goats Gruff left the grass in the old field to grow back and went off in search of a new place to eat. They found a beautiful meadow full of flowers, trees, bees and lots of grass, but it was on the other side of a wet, muddy stream. Little Billy Goat spotted a bridge and started to cross it.

Suddenly, Little Billy Goat heard a grumbling sound from underneath the bridge. He had woken up a hungry, grumpy troll. She wanted to eat Little Billy Goat, but on hearing about his bigger and tastier brother the troll let him cross. With that Little Billy Goat scampered over the bridge to the luscious green grass of the meadow.

Medium Billy Goat started to cross the bridge. He woke the troll, who poked her head out from under the bridge once again - she looked grumpier than ever. The troll was threatening to eat Medium Billy Goat, but was once again convinced to wait for the bigger and tastier brother, and let Medium Billy Goat cross the bridge.

Big Billy Goat began to cross the bridge. The troll woke up once more, and she was the most angry she had ever been. As she got ready to eat Big Billy Goat he charged straight at the troll, sending her flying into the muddy stream below.

Big Billy Goat went to join his brothers in the meadow. After that day, the Three Billy Goats Gruff lived happily ever after. The troll decided that rather than goat stew, she preferred the taste of leafy salad. So she was happy to let everyone walk safely across the bridge.
