Video summary
Christians talk to God through prayer: We see examples of children's prayers and how and when they pray.
Children talk about asking for guidance, being grateful, asking for help and how praying can be like talking to a friend.
We also see prayers in church.
The Lord's Prayer, taught by Jesus to his friends, is the most popular Christian prayer.
Used all over the world and in hundreds of languages, the prayer is well known.
This clip is from the series My Life, My Religion: Christianity.
Teacher Notes
The background to the clip is that these children and young people feel they need to explain praying.
It is not universal in the UK for children to have any experience like this.
So they give us answers to questions like these: How does prayer feel? Are you sure that God listens to prayers? Does praying make a difference?
You could use these questions, or ask pupils to generate their own questions from the clip, and develop their answers on a piece of paper.
After a set time (10 minutes?) pass the page on to another group, to add more questions, details or suggested answers.
This topic will be relevant to teaching Religious Education at KS2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 2 or 3 in Scotland.
