World number two Andy Murray has said he will enter the Cincinnati Masters with extra confidence after his Rogers Cup success over Novak Djokovic.

Britain's Murray, 28, will face American Mardy Fish in the second round in Cincinnati this week, with the US Open starting at the end of the month.

The Scot ended an eight-match losing run against Djokovic on Sunday.

"I feel good. The last couple of matches I felt like I played very well," said Murray.

"It is quite different conditions here so it will take a few days to get used to them and hopefully I can try to get through my first match somehow and hopefully start to feel better as the week goes on.

"But obviously last week was great for me regardless of how I play here and was a good win for my confidence."

Fish, 33, has said he will retire after the US Open and won his first ATP Tour match since 2013 in the first round at Cincinnati, beating Viktor Troicki.

"He has been here a while getting used to the conditions, so I would expect it to be tricky," said Murray.

"And with here and the US Open being his last two tournaments he will want to perform as best he can, so it will be a tough match."
