British teenager Kyle Edmund enjoyed a superb victory over 12th seed Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round of Wimbledon qualifying.

Edmund, who has never played a match at ATP level and is ranked 1,300th, won 6-3 6-7 (7-4) 6-4 in Roehampton.

Spain's Gimeno-Traver, 26, is ranked 102 and was as high as 52 in the world last year.

"Felt amazing to win out there today! Gives me confidence and shows what I can do,"

The 17-year-old will play Uruguay's Marcel Felder, ranked 276, in round two, with three victories required to earn a place in the main draw at Wimbledon.

In other matches on Monday, Chris Eaton beat Australian Ben Mitchell 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 6-3 but last year's boys finalist Liam Broady lost 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 to Italian Thomas Fabbiano.

Richard Bloomfield, David Rice, Edward Corrie, George Morgan, Luke Bambridge and Andrew Fitzpatrick were also among those beaten in the first round.
