UK Snooker Championship 2013: Liang Wenbo misses out on 147
China's Liang Wenbo missed the chance to make snooker's 100th maximum break en route to a 6-2 victory over Elliot Slessor at the UK Championship in York.
Liang had compiled a flawless break in the eighth frame, pocketing 15 reds and blacks before missing the final yellow.
"I got a very good chance but I was unlucky, I think I rushed it a bit. Maybe next time," said Liang, after losing out on the 拢59,000 prize.
"I hit the last black a little bit too hard so it wasn't easy on the yellow."
Meanwhile, Welshman Michael White thrashed two-time World semi-finalist Joe Swail 6-0, but compatriot Ryan Day suffered a shock 6-5 loss to England's Chris Wakelin. Jack Lisowski was 4-0 up against Michael Leslie, who launched a superb comeback to win 6-4.
Scotland's Marcus Campbell defeated 15-year-old Lyu Haotian in a final-frame decider to advance 6-5.
Li Hang who beat David Gilbert 6-4, Andrew Higginson triumphed 6-2 over Hammad Miah and Jamie Burnett won 6-4 against Simon Bedford.
Also through to the second round are China's Yu De Lu, England's Chris Norbury and Scottish pair Alan McManus and Anthony McGill.
