Cornish Pirates coach Joe Walsh says injuries have contributed to his side's poor start to the season.

The Pirates have lost three of their opening four Championship matches and are third-from-bottom of the table.

Captain John Stevens has been ruled out for the season with a serious knee injury while fellow forwards Milo Hallam and Hallam Chapman face lengthy spells out.

"The context of the situation really is the personnel, the injuries, the availability," Walsh told 91热爆 Radio Cornwall.

"We've lost John Stevens for the year, we lost two players in pre-season for long-term injuries.

"We lost two second rows against London Scottish to a concussion, we lost a back row with a with a rib injury against Ealing.

"In training last week everything was unopposed for the forwards, the scrums were unopposed, line-outs were unopposed, mauls were unopposed.

"So you find that it's very hard to create the stimulus that you'd like during the week."
