Former England full-back Mike Brown has agreed a new deal with Leicester Tigers to run "beyond the 2023-24 season".

The 38-year-old was initially signed last year on a short-term-deal, which was subsequently extended.

And Brown has scored three tries in 11 appearances this season.

"Whether he's been at full-back, doing a job on the wing or off the bench, Mike's been one of our best performers week-in and week-out," said Tigers head coach Dan McKellar.

"A lot will be made about his age but when you see Mike's preparation, his diligence in how he takes care of his body, you see why he's still doing what he's doing, and he'll continue to be an important player for us."

Brown played more than 350 games for Harlequins earlier in his career before a spell with Newcastle Falcons, which ended in the summer of 2022.

He won 72 international caps, making his final England appearance in 2018.

"Firstly, I just want to thank the club for being so welcoming during my time so far and seeing the value I can bring to the team and our environment here at Leicester Tigers," said Brown.

"I still feel I have a lot to offer on the field so to be able to continue at a club where I'm surrounded by world-class players and great people is a privilege and I'll keep contributing in any way I can."

Meanwhile, Leicester have announced that scrum-half Joe Powell and outside back Joe Browning have both left the club.

Powell, 29, scored two tries in seven appearances for Tigers after signing a short-term deal in the summer, while Browning, 22, played six first-team games.
