England fly-half Danny Cipriani will be available for the World Cup after being re-bailed following his arrest on suspicion of drink-driving.

The 27-year-old Sale Sharks player was arrested on 1 June after an early-morning car crash in west London.

A police spokesman said Cipriani had been re-bailed until mid-November pending further inquiries.

That means the player could feature for hosts England in the World Cup, which runs from 18 September to 31 October.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: "The date has been extended by the police so we'll wait and see.

"He's not been charged with anything so he's here as a bona fide member of the squad and will be judged accordingly."

"With Stuart Lancaster only likely to select two fly-halves in his final 31-man party, the odds are against Danny Cipriani making the cut. As it stands, George Ford and Owen Farrell are ahead of him."

Lancaster has made discipline on and off the pitch a central part of his squad ethos.

Centre Manu Tuilagi will miss the World Cup after England suspended him until January following his conviction for assault, while hooker Dylan Hartley was dropped following the latest in a series of on-field incidents.

Cipriani is part of a 45-man England squad that is expected to be cut by up to nine players at the end of this week.

Harlequins number eight Nick Easter has joined up with the squad after missing last month's training camp in Denver, Colorado to receive treatment on a back injury.

Lancaster said Gloucester back-rower Ben Morgan should be back in full training next week after an eight-month lay-off with an ankle injury.

England face France at Twickenham on 15 August and in Paris on 22 August before concluding their preparations by hosting Ireland on 5 September.

They start their World Cup campaign against Fiji on 18 September and will also face Australia, Uruguay and Wales in Group A.
