Rob Evans made his Wales debut in the recent Six Nations

New Wales prop Rob Evans has signed a Scarlets contract extension.

The region has not specified how long the 22-year-old will remain at Parc y Scarlets.

Evans' Wales debut came off the bench in the Six Nations win over Ireland and he started for the first time in the 60-21 win over Italy following injuries to Gethin Jenkins and Paul James.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for me to continue my development," said loose-head Evans.

After joining the region's academy, Evans went on to make his senior regional debut against Sale in 2013.

His career has also involved a stint at Welsh Premiership side Carmarthen Quins.

Head coach Wayne Pivac said: "He has made great strides this season and will undoubtedly have developed further, having had a little international experience and coming up against some of the world's best props during this season's European Rugby Champions Cup campaign.

"We are developing strength in depth at front row with a good crop of home-grown talent that will continue to develop together over the coming seasons, ensuring a bright future for region."

Evans, Wales prop Samson Lee and uncapped hooker Kirby Myhill were part of the Wales Under-20 effort when they finished third at the 2012 Junior World Championship.
