London Irish and England winger Marland Yarde is a doubt for the Six Nations.

The Exiles have confirmed Yarde will be out of action for 12 to 14 weeks with a ruptured tendon in his hip.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury in the Premiership match against Leicester last weekend, and will now undergo surgery.

Yarde started England's autumn international against Australia but missed the matches with Argentina and New Zealand, also with a hip problem.

He has two caps for his country having made his debut against Argentina during the summer tour.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: "Marland has made great progress over the last 12 months and, although this is a setback, I am sure he will be back and competing again for London Irish next year and pushing his case for further recognition at international level."

England already have doubts over Leicester duo Geoff Parling and Manu Tuilagi going into next year's Six Nations.

Lancaster's side play France at the Stade de France on the opening weekend of the tournament, which begins on 1 February, before facing Scotland a week later.
