Cornish Pirates have signed young Worcester utility back Andy Short on loan for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old, capped by England at youth level, has played 17 times for the Warriors since making his debut in October 2010.

Short, who has made two substitute appearances in the Premiership this season, started three games in Europe against Parma and Bucuresti.

His move comes after Blair Cowan left Pirates for Worcester last week.

Warriors coach Richard Hill says it is important that Worcester-born Short, who can play at centre or on the wing, gets some game time.

"It's important that Andy gets games and we believe a spell at Cornish Pirates will be of great benefit to him," he told 91热爆 Hereford & Worcester.

"He remains a key member of the Worcester squad and we are excited about his future at Sixways.

"But we feel regular rugby, at a strong club like the Pirates, who we have a strong relationship with, is crucial for him and his development."

"This is fantastic for both the Pirates and Andy," said Pirates boss Chris Stirling.

"We can provide him with an opportunity to play top end Championship rugby, helping his development, and the Pirates get to retain a healthy balance in the midfield.

"The relationship between the Pirates and Worcester is very positive and Richard Hill was very happy for Andy to join the Pirates and to be playing rugby."
